La Grande Orange Grocery & Pizzeria
La Grande Orange, located in the Arcadia district, is a hidden gem. You are going to feel like a real insider when you find this place. Just saying the name makes you sound so smart, especially if you say it with a French accent.
The ambiance is comfortable, the crowd is upscale and relaxed. The food is of the highest quality.
Expect to find the food to be gourmet, gluten free, mostly non-GMO and delicious.
This might be the place to begin your date. Part restaurant, part upscale grocery, get a bite and then a bottle of wine to take with you. This is the spot to get gourmet cheeses and snacks, fine wine, micro brewery beers and more.

The Dandy Warhols
David Bowie became a fan of the band after seeing them play at the Glastonbury Festival in 2000. He then personally selected them to play at the 2002 Meltdown festival.
The Dandy Warhols combine elements of 1960’s garage rock, the then-popular BritPop genre, and some of the earlier shoegaze music approach. The middle of their career featured a more commercial, polished sound, abandoning the garage rock of the previous album in favor of a more psychedelic and Britpop-influenced power pop sound. Recently they favored a return to the psychedelic, guitar-oriented rock of their earlier career.
Media darlings, they have been featured with a theme song for the American cult television show Veronica Mars and an appearance in The O.C. They were included in a downloadable song-pack for the Xbox video game Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX 4. The Dandy Warhols were even the subjects of the 2004 documentary film Dig! In 2007, the band recorded the song “Good Luck Chuck” for the 2007 film of the same name.
See the Dandy Warhols perform at one of Phoenix’ newer concert venues, the Crescent Ballroom.

Collective Soul
The Atlanta-based band has been at it without pause since 1994. They have sold upwards of 10 millions albums of what is often considered easily digestible, radio-friendly fare.
From their break-out single “Shine” to “December”, “Gel”, “The World I Know”, and “Run”, Collective Soul has turned out hit after hit of standard rock numbers, from the power-chord driven to the ballad. As musicians, Collective Soul make no bones about being anything more than a guitar band, so it’s hard to hold their reliance on riffs and crunchy noises against them.
Enjoy Collective Soul at Tempe’s Marquee Theatre.

Steven Wright
Wright is an American comedian, actor, writer, and an Oscar-winning film producer.
He style is distinct in that he speaks in a lethargic voice and very slow. His delivery is deadpan. The topics he covers range from ironic, philosophical and sometimes nonsensical jokes to non sequiturs and one-liners with contrived situations.
Famous for paraprosdokian, a figure of speech used often in comedy. The technique is employed when the second part of a sentence changes the meaning of the first part. Wright might quip, “On the other hand, you have different fingers.”
He has performed both on TV and in film. Some of his accomplishments include a spot on:
- Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) as Larry Stillman D.D.S.
- Reservoir Dogs (1992) (voice only) as K-Billy DJ
- So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993) as Pilot
- Mad About You as Paul Buchman’s film assistant
- Natural Born Killers (1994) as Dr. Emil Reingold
- The Swan Princess (1994) as Speed (speaking voice)
- The Larry Sanders Show (1994) as himself
