Ice Skating in the Desert
Did you know that you can ice skate in the desert? Its true! Year round there are indoor rinks to visit around the Valley of the Sun (i.e. Phoenix metro). During the holidays however, outdoor rinks are set up.
For natives it may seem a bit chilly to skate outside. Visitors to Phoenix, on the other hand, probably think its quite pleasant outside at night here in the desert. There are at least two fabulous outdoor ice skating rinks in Phoenix.
One outdoor skating rink is in downtown Phoenix and the other is in North Phoenix. Downtown Phoenix the outdoor ice skating rink is called CitySkate. From North Phoenix you can find ice skating outside of the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort.

Desert Ice Skating Rink-North Phoenix
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort is a recipient of the AAA Five Diamond Award every year since 1990, the resort also has received accolades for its outstanding culinary program, exceptional guest service, unparalleled meeting facilities and the exquisite Well & Being at Willow Stream Spa.
Located near Bell Rd and the 101 freeway. The resort turns into an enchanting winter wonderland during this, the fifth annual, Christmas at the Princess festival November 20, 2014 through January 4, 2015.
Enjoy rink-side snowfalls. Luxury rink-side, fire pit tables with s’mores and blankets are also available by calling 480-585-2781.

Prices are as follows: $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 and younger and $5 for skate rental. A portion of the proceeds from Desert Ice Skating will go to COX Charities throughout the festival.
CitySkate
CitySkate enchants Phoenix as it transforms Central and Washington Avenues into a Winter Wonderland.
This rink is 5,442 square feet of real-ice. The rink will be open November 22 through February 2. Hours include: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. daily. 4-11 p.m. Sundays-Fridays. 4 p.m.-midnight Saturdays.
Every Friday and Saturday night, Copper Blues will be in the park with some toasty hot chocolate and apple cider! Adult Skate is on Saturday nights from 9pm – midnight. But no one will be turned away for being too young.
Prices includes skate rental. Admission is $12, $10 for college students with ID, $6 for military, seniors and age 4 and younger.
